Genotype selection based on multiple traits in cotton crops: The application of genotype by yield*trait biplot

In cotton crops, the seed yield significantly contributes with success of any cultivar. However, other traits are considered when an ideotype is pointed out in selection, such as fiber quality traits. The aim this study was to applied genotype by yield*trait (GYT) biplot a multi-environment trial data genotypes and selected best genotypes. For end, thirteen from nineteen trials were assessed. Seven evaluated [cotton (SY), percentage (FP), length (FL), uniformity (FU), short index (SFI), strength (FS), elongation (EL)] residual error variances structures [identity variance (IDV) diagonal (Diag)] tested bayesian information criterion. After, REML/BLUP approach predict genetic values each trait selective accuracy measured prediction. Then, GYT-biplot data. SP SFI traits, model Diag indicated, whereas for SY FL, FU, FS, EL IDV demonstrated fit Values higher than 0.9 all analyzed. acute angles find relations, which means high correlation between yield*traits combination. Besides that, still can be seen GYT-biplot, shown magnitudes pairs Yield*FU-Yield*FS Yield*FS-Yield*EL. Also, indicates G4 performance Yield*FS, Yield*SFI, Yield*FU, Yield*FL, Yield*FP combined. G4, G1, G13, G8, G9 represent those advantage over cultivars. combines desirable characteristics demonstrate have large potential breeding. GYT valuable highly recommended breeding programs selection purpose multivariate scenario.
